Camden splits with Milan
Camden beat the Milan Lady Bulldogs Friday night at Milan 57-46. The purple team tied it up in the third period 27 all, but the Lady Lions had the answer.
The Lady Lions defeated Milan 57-46 Friday night on the road for their first District win of the early season. CHS started hot behind Carmen Medina's inside shooting for 7 points and roared to a 16-8 first period lead. With 2:27 left to play in the first, Jenna French fed Carmen, and her lay-up made it 12-4 Camden, nice play! Both teams traded baskets in the second, and Savannah Cox score the last points of the half from the free throw line to make it a 24-17 Camden advantage.
Milan came out of the lockers with "come-back" on their minds, and tied it up with three minutes left in the third, 27 all. Karen Farmer used an bound pass off a Lady Bulldog's back to lay the ball in and give Camden a two point lead! Smart play! The third period ended with Camden up by five, 37-33, but Milan wouldn't quit. With 3:40 left in the game, Milan tied it at 44. Carmen Medina made three free throws to put the Lady Lions up 47-44. Jenna Evans had a steal in the Milan backcourt and made the lay-up to make it 49-44 with 2:35 remaining. The Lady Lions rolled after that, with six points from Savannah Cox and a goal by Erin Latendresse to finish it at 57-46. Great District win, girls!

The Lady Lions play next in the USJ Christmas Tournament to be held at the University School of Jackson. They are scheduled to play McNairy girls at Noon on Monday December 29th and USJ on Tuesday at 6 PM. Let's all make the trip to Jackson and cheer for the Lady Lions! GO LADY LIONS!
The Camden Lions lost a close one to Milan Friday night 55-51. The Lions suffered a tough second period that stopped some early momentum after leading 15-8 after one. Brian French dumped in 8 points early to pace the Lions, but the Milan Bulldogs turned up the defensive heat in the second to make take a 30-25 advantage into the lockers. Ben Reed dominated the third period with 11 points and with 4:48 left, Ben took the inside feed from Jarrod Bain and rolled it in to make it a 31-30 Camden lead! Milan kept hustling on defense, and the third period ended with the Lions within 1, 41-40 Bulldogs.
With 6:41 left in the game, Brian French drained a three to make it a 43-all game. As late as 3:59 showing, Ben Reed took a slick pass from Bain, made the lay-up thru the foul, and it was a one point game, 46-47. Milan had what it needed down the stretch, and Kyle Harris's last second three left the score at Milan 55, Camden 51.
