Camden takes three from Waverly
The Camden Lady Lions "B" team started a three game win streak Tuesday night in CHS gym with a by hammering out a 34-32 win over the Lady Tigerettes. Who knew that two more Black and Gold victories were to follow.
The Lady Lions hit the floor running hard and Jenna Evans paced them early with 8 of her 15 points coming in the first period. Carmen Medina had some big buckets in the paint with four points, and Savannah Cox pitched in two to take CHS to a 14-7 first period lead. The second period saw the Lady Lions crank up the full-court pressure, and with 7.6 seconds left before the break, Carmen Medina stole a Waverly inbounds pass, fed it to Jenna Evans who laid it in to make it a 33-20 Camden lead.
Camden kept the pressure up after the break and held the Lady Tigerettes in check to produce a 47-37 score after three. Waverly turned to the "Hack a Lady Lion" defense, and it didn't work as the Lady Lions made their free throws, only missing 4 of 18 in the fourth period to cap a 70-51 victory.
