Camden Lions Defeat Dresden
The Camden Lions whipped up on the Dresden Lions last night at CHS gym and secured three wins
in the non-region battle. The boys JV game ended with Camden up 56-24. The CHS Lady Lions
continued to roll with a 58-50 win. The CHS guards, (Anna Martin, Jenna Evans, Karen Farmer &
Lacey Cagle) pressured Dresden and broke down their offense down causing bad shots and
turnovers. Camden took a 26-19 lead into the lockers, and extended it to as much as ten
during the third. Dresden fought back to within one, but the CHS Lady Lions made all the
free throws in the final two minutes and notched their last win of 2002. Partial stats are as follows:

The boys game was a wild one that ended with a big 73-57 Camden win. The first half was close, with both teams playing tough defense and trying to find the soft spot at the other end of the floor. Camden led 15-11 after one, and 27-21 at the break. The second half "excitement" included five technical fouls (two on Camden, one on the Dresden coach), a Dresden player being ejected from the game, a Dresden fan being asked to leave the gym, and a total of seven 3-pointers made by Brock Martin! Camden recorded a 28 point third period and never looked back. Martin was also 7 of 8 from the charity stripe while Jarrod Bain hauled in 17 rebounds and scored 17 for the night.
