Camden splits with McKenzie

The Camden Lions whupped up on the McKenzie Rebels in an important Region 6 District 11AA game Friday night at McKenzie, 71-50. The Lady Lions lost, 52-68.

The Lady Lions lost a tough district game to the McKenzie Lady Rebels Friday night at McKenzie, 52-68. Camden started out shooting cold from the floor and the charity stripe and just couldn't ever catch up. It was 32-16 McK at the half, and Camden closed the difference to 12 after three periods, 41-29. They never stopped hustlin', but just couldn't seem to get a run started to challenge the Rebs.

Scoring for the Lady Lions:

Lacey Cagle 16
Carmen Medina 7
Savannah Cox 7
Jenna Evans 7
Heather Dillon 6
Sandra Farmer 5

Sandra led CHS with 15 rebounds, Heather Dillon had 14. Savannah Cox blocked one shot and 3 steals to lead the Lady Lions in both categories. Lacey Cagle drained two 3-point shots to lead the team. The Lady Lions are on the road in a non-district backyard battle with the Big Sandy Lady Red Devils on Monday night, 3 Feb at 6:30 PM. Let's all head North tonight and cheer loud for our girls!

GO Lady Lions!

The Camden Lions came out hot and kept the pressure on McKenzie to take home an important District 11 win, 71-50. The first period was all Lions, and Kyle Harris drove the right side and banked it in to end the first, 20-11. Brock Martin sank a huge 3-pointer from the right side of the key with 6:13 in the second, and Camden was up 25-15. Brock pitched up a perfect "allie-oop" pass to Josh Boyd to make it 29-17, and McKenzie called a time out! At the half, Camden led 40-24. The lead increased to 19 after the third with great offensive play. Everyone contributed with sharp inside passes and accurate shooting. Head Coach Barry Martin got some minutes deeper into the bench as Camden finished it off 71-50.

Scoring for CHS:

Jarrod Bain 29
Brock Martin 11
Ben Reed 10
Kyle Harris 10
Josh Boyd 4
Brandon Sims 3
Brian French 2
Josh Guajardo 2

Camden travels North on 69A to take on the Big Sandy Red Devils on Monday in a non-district game. Let's all make the trip to the Big Sandy gym and cheer the Lions on to a Benton County "braggin' rights" victory!
