CHS Basketball Teams drop two to Waverly

The Lady Lions lost a squeker to the Waverly Tigerettes Tuesday night, 60-53. The Tigerettes jumped on the Lions early, and it was 17-10 Waverly at the end of the first period. Coach Karen Cox called for a very effective full-court press, and with 5:02 left in the 2nd, Camden led 20-19. The 2nd period was more physical, and at the break it was a 28-27 game. Camden kept it close without the press in the third, and the 4th period started with a 3 point Waverly lead, 42-39. With 34.4 seconds left in the game, Jenna Evans' shot was good and she was fouled. She made the free throw and the Lady Lions only trailed by one, 54-53! Waverly made their shots down the stretch, and the game ended with a 7 point Waverly advantage. Scoring for the Lady Lions was as follows:

Carmen Medina 15
Anna Martin 11
Jenna Evans 11
Brittany Berry 5
Heather Dillon 4
Karen Farmer 4
Lacey Cagle 2
Sandra Farmer 1

Carmen Medina and Heather Dillon had 3 rebounds each, while Jenna Evans was 3 of 3 from the foul line. The Lady Lions will have their home opener Friday night, 6 Dec at 6:30 PM against Region foe Lexington. Come out and support the Lady Lions Friday night!
