Camden splits two with Waverly
The CHS Lady Lions defeated the Waverly Tigerettes last night 47-35 at CHS
gym in a non-district game. The first period was a defensive battle with
both teams finding it hard to find the open shot. Carmen Medina had a
steal and a bank layup to end the first period 10-8 CHS. The Lady Lions
"soon-to-be-patented" full court pressure was applied in the second period,
and the Waverly girls just couldn't keep up. The Lady Lions were
relentless in challenging every pass, and it made the difference that lead
to an 8 point spread. Camden went into the lockers at the half with an
18-10 advantage.
Lady Lions Head Coach Karen Cox kept the pressure up
using her subs to run fresh legs at the Tigerettes. The third period ended
with the same 8-point Camden lead, 32-24. Down the stretch, the Lady Lions
continued to gel, and Karen Farmer's two free throws made it a ten-point
lead with 1:42 left, 45-35. Carmen Medina had the steal on the Waverly
inbounds play and was fouled with less than one minute showing and made
both ends of the one-and-one to end it 47-35.
The scoring summary for the
Lady Lions:
Carmen Medina 18
Anna Martin 13
Sandra Farmer 5
Karen Farmer 4
Jenna Evans 4
Lacey Cagle 2
Heather Dillon 1
