1983 Camden Lions Football Team Returns! The special 1983 CHS Lions football team was back on Wright Field Thursday night as special guests of the Camden Quarterback Club. The ceremony preceded a "different" Thursday night game between Huntingdon and the 2002 Camden Lions that was rescheduled due to the upcoming storm. The 1983 Lions were honored at the Annual Spaghetti Supper in the CHS lunchroom prior to the ceremony, and old stories were revisited...some even were improved!

The team was coached by Barry Barnett and the cheerleading squad was sponsored by Linda Phelps. Both were on the field for the pregame ceremony along with the members of their squads that were able to attend the "rescheduled" event. The 1983 Lions finished the regular season 9-1 with victories over Murray, McNairy County, Waverly, Parsons, Milan, Chester County, Bruceton, Jackson South Side, and an overtime victory over Montgomery Central. The '83 Lions then defeated South Fulton 32-19 in the St. Jude Bowl to finish off a rewarding 10-1 season.

Cheerleaders in attendance: Kim Hudson Woodard, Marilyn Cuff Fowler, Lisa Hollingsworth Kelly

Team members in attendance:Charles Boggs, David Robertson, Eric Malin, Rodney Rushing, Chip Goforth, Jimmy Troutt, Stacey Cole, Al Ward, John Williams, John Bukky Jr., and Jay Phifer

The Camden Quarterback Club would like to thank Gina Douglas for coordinating the event, along with the help of Katrina Robertson and Angela Henry. Thanks to all that attended the pregame ceremony. The Quarterback Club would also like to thank the members of the 1983 team that rearranged their schedule to be on Wright Field on Thursday night!

GO LIONS!
